- Are you licensed and insured? - North Carolina does not issue a specific "handyman license." You can operate legally without a state license as long as your total project cost (labor and materials) remains strictly under $40,000 and you avoid specialized trades. Trailhead Home Services does carry general liability insurance.
- How do you charge for your services? Hourly or by the job? - It depends. Common items like mounting a TV or replacing a bathroom faucet typically have a fixed price which will be clearly communicated to you before the job begins. Punch-lists (i.e. "Honey Do" lists), which are lists of unrelated items, are typically billed hourly.. Then there are the "unknowns" like patching a damaged wall or repairing exterior wood rot that can vary widely. These types of issues are also usually billed hourly.
- Do you provide free estimates? - We sure do! Either select the brown "Get a Free Estimate" button at the top of the page or jump to the "How to Contact Us" section below.
- What is your service area? - We provide prompt, reliable service to home owners, businesses, real estate agents, and property managers in Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, and McDowell counties. However, we have family and customers in the Charlotte area that we frequently visit and would be happy to see you while we're there!
- Can you handle emergency repairs? - You bet we can! What sets us apart from other handyman companies is that we focus only on emergency issues, quick-fix items, and punch-lists (i.e. "Honey Do" lists).which have short durations (1-2 days). We don't dabble in renovations or remodeling, which means that we can quickly address your emergency issues when you need them fixed, not weeks or months down the road.
- Do you bring your own tools and materials? - Yes. We use our own reliable, high-quality hand tools for each job. Once we define the scope of work, we'll procure the required materials needed to do the job the right way.
- How soon can you start a project? - Sooner than most. Because we don't get tied up with long-term projects, we're able to get you scheduled sooner than later. Our goal is to see you in less than two business days, unless it is an emergency and needs to be addressed immediately.
- Do you offer any guarantees or warranties on your work? - Of course we do! We stand firmly behind the quality of work we perform. If for some reason a problem arises after normal use with something we installed or repaired, we will make it right. Remember, our goal is to "Wow" you.
- Do you handle both small repairs and larger projects? No. We handle only small repairs and maintenance items that take less than two days to address. Punch lists (i.e. "Honey Do" lists), which consist of many unique, small projects, can stretch over a longer period of time.
- What does it mean that you "protect and provide for widows?" - We believe firmly in Exodus 22:22 which states that "You should not mistreat any widow." Unfortunately this does happen in the home service world and we're here to change that. Our reverence for widows runs deep and we are serious about providing an extremely high level of service for them. If you are a widow or a family member who is coordinating home service work, you can be assured that your experience with us will be a pleasant one.
